One of the worst things to plague a home with is clutter. A cluttered home can feel twice as small and doesn’t allow you to use the full potential of your home. While the modern townhomes from CB JENI Homes are very spacious, clearing out as much clutter as you can is always a good idea. So today, CB JENI Homes is going to give you some home design ideas to help you control the clutter in your home.
1. One In, One Out
An easy way to prevent clutter is to follow the “one in, one out” rule. This rule means that if you get a new shirt, for example, then you would also get rid of an old shirt. If the shirt is still in good condition, you can donate it to Goodwill.
2. Ask Yourself, “How Often Do I Use It?”
If you’re trying to do some major decluttering, start with the very simple question, “How often do I use it?” If you can’t remember the last time you used it, chances are you don’t need it. If your answer to this question is anything less than twice a year, you should probably get rid of it.
3. The Four-Box Method
Do you have a hard time deciding whether you need to get rid of something or not? Start the decluttering process with the four-box method. Get rid of your clutter item by item by using three boxes and the trash can. Label the boxes “Put Away”, “Give Away/Sell” and “Storage”. Any items that don’t fit into those categories go in the trash can.
4. Add Wall Space
For the items that you want to keep, but don’t have a place for, think vertical. Add some floating shelves to your walls and it can go a long way. This is one of those home design ideas that provides a functional solution and adds to the aesthetics of your home.
These four simple ways should help you to control some of the clutter in your home. If you’re looking for a fresh start in a new living space, then the modern townhomes of CB JENI Homes may be perfect for you. Take a look at the communities in North Texas we build in to find your dream home today.
