Love Valentine’s Day? Why not start some new Valentine’s Day traditions this year that will give you and your family a lifetime full of memories to look back on!
1. Rethink Gifts
Countless of times we have been told, “It’s the thought that counts”, and it’s true. Anyone can buy a gift, it’s taking the time and effort into making a gift is what’s truly special. This year, try having everyone in the family make his or her own homemade gifts. Whether it is a letter of appreciation or a DIY project, get creative! This could be the start of a great new Valentine’s Day tradition.
2. Valentine’s Day Breakfast
Nothing beats a homemade breakfast. Get the whole family up early this year and cook a Valentine’s Day themed breakfast. Try making everything heart shaped, heart shaped chocolate chip pancakes, heart shaped eggs, heart shaped toast, heart shaped fruit and the list could go on and on. It’s especially easy to do when you have one of these heart shaped cookie cutters!
3. Decorating With Past Valentine’s Gifts
Decorating the home with past Valentine’s gifts could be your ultimate Valentine’s Day tradition. Keep Valentine’s from past years and decorate the house with them, this is a great way to get the whole family together and spend time on this lovely holiday. Plus it will really get you in the holiday spirit of love!
4. Family Dinner Appreciation
Family dinners are always important to have. For Valentine’s Day this year, why not try going around the dinner table and give each person a chance to give an appreciation. It could be as simple as, “I appreciate mom for making my lunch every morning” or “I appreciate Ally for always having my back”. It is a chance for everyone to gather around and really bond as a family.
5. Spread The Love
“Love is just a word until someone comes along and gives it meaning.” – Paulo Coelho, Aleph
Valentine’s day is a great opportunity for you and your family to spread the love. This year, make some Valentine goodies or homemade gifts and take them to a near by nursing home, or hospital, or soup kitchen in the community, the options are endless. Expressing love for others is truly one of life’s best lessons.
